Federal-court bankruptcy admission is SEPARATE from state-bar admission. A lawyer who is in good standing with a state bar is not automatically authorized to appear in federal bankruptcy court. Federal district courts admit attorneys to their bars on a separate application, and bankruptcy courts ride on that admission. Always verify both: state bar status and the specific federal district where your case will be filed. Local rules typically require admission to the district where the bankruptcy case sits or admission pro hac vice.
